Tropfest is The World's Largest Short Film Festival and one of Australia’s most iconic cultural events. Tropfest’s purpose is simple: to create platforms for filmmakers to generate new content & share their stories. Each year the Festival delivers a raft of programs that encourage emerging talent to participate in the film industry and has helped launch some of Australia’s most notable film and TV careers. Mardi Gras
March – Sydney, NSW

The Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade brings the city to a standstill with hundreds and thousands lining the streets in support of equality, pride and a dazzling spectacle of sparkles and self-expression. From the outrageously adorned, to the sassy, satirical and serious, Mardi Gras welcomes the community in a fabulous festivity of love that knows no bounds.

St Kilda Film Festival
May – Melbourne, VIC

St Kilda Film Festival is Australia's longest running short film festival and has been showcasing Australian short films since 1983. St Kilda Film Festival provides the most comprehensive overview of the national short film industry, screening the Top 100 short film entries received each year alongside a rich program of music videos, Vimeo Showcase with Q&A, special screenings and events plus a free Filmmaker Development Program.

Vivid Sydney
May/June – Sydney, NSW

Vivid Sydney is a unique annual event of light, music and ideas, featuring an outdoor 'gallery' of extraordinary lighting sculptures, a cutting-edge contemporary music program, some of the world's most important creative industry forums and, of course, the spectacular illumination of the Sydney Opera House sails. The multi-award-winning winter festival of light, music and ideas returns to illuminate Sydney with exciting new precincts to explore, mesmerizing new light art to inspire and plenty of entertainment for everyone.

The Color Run
All year round events across Australia

The Color Run is a five-kilometer, un-timed fun run, where thousands of participants - also known as“Color Runners”- are doused from head to toe with coloured powder at each kilometer. With only two rules, the idea is easy to follow:

  1. Wear white at the starting line
  2. Finish plastered in colour!

The fun doesn’t stop at the Finish Line! The EPIC Finish Festival will give the chance for all fabulous Color Runners to burn a few extra calories by showing off their finest dance moves! Think music, dancing and of course our infamous Color Throws! Needless to say this is the best post-5k party on the planet!

Festival of the Winds

Australia's largest and most exciting kite flying festival is on again at Bondi Beach. Australian and international kite flyers will show off their great flying skills and wonderful handmade creations. Colorful cartoon characters, giant animals, flowers, fighter kites, box kites, delta kites and more will make the skies come alive over Sydney's most famous beach!

Sculpture by the Sea
October/ November - Sydney, NSW

Staged on the spectacular Bondi to Tamarama coastal walk, Sculpture by the Sea, is one of Sydney’s most popular events, with 520,000 visitors viewing over 100 sculptures by artists from around the world. Held since 1997, this free to the public exhibition is the largest annual sculpture exhibition in the world.

Strawberry Fields
Mid/end of November – Australian Bush, VIC

Strawberry Fields is an annual celebration of art, sound and creative expression held for three days each November, a few hours outside of Melbourne, Australia. Each year they bring you a diverse selection of both renowned and breakthrough electronic music from both Australia and overseas. Strawberry Fields is a sensory feast, including soul shaking sound, world class decor, dozens of eclectic market stalls, artistic installations, live performance art, workshops, forum discussion and more.
